Off The Market...

Honestly, I've been off the market for awhile - but as of September 12, I now get to wear a ring on my finger for the rest of my life and honestly say "I'm happily married,"  God, that feels good to say!  I've written about my wife in previous blogs, but just thought I'd post another quick update with a photo on how amazing our wedding was.  We got married at Eastland Christian Church (East Nashville, TN) and had our wedding reception at The Listening Room Cafe (duh!).  It was perfect.  We were so overwhelmed with all of the friends and family who drove from many states to spend our special day with us.  I can't wait to share the rest of my life with my best friend - Brittney.

It's been awhile...

Actually, like over a year.  Where do I begin.  Well, I've been busy!  I have been working non-stop on my businesses.  Mainly The Listening Room and Emerge Nashville.  I also have to tell you about my dating journey since my last post.  I have lived with the same roomate, a female (Colleen) for almost ten years.  After numerous nights watching her get all dolled up getting ready for yet another date I finally asked, "What the hell are you doing to be going on all these dates?"  Her answer: eharmony.com.  Hmm.  I'll admit, it wasn't seconds after she left the house that I picked up my iPad and began my profile on eharmony.  But about half way through it, I put it down and said, nah, this isn't for me.  I continued to watch tv and sip my glass of red wine, alone, and was perfectly content.  Then, as fate would have it, a commercial pops on my flatscreen for match.com.  Ah-hah, I thought!  This is the ticket!  Okay, I'm lying.  Not really....I actually sat there for awhile and thought that was really weird that I was just considering getting on one of those stupid "dating" sites and here is a commercial for one.  But, after another few sips of wine and maybe a good buzz...I said what the hell, again, and signed up for Match.com.  I built a profile and it was great because there were no secrets.  I could put on there whatever I wanted.  No surprises.  I'm a single dad and I'm very proud of it, check.  I love God and Christian beliefs, check. I own my own business(es) and work pretty much non-stop, check. Although I love Jesus, I cuss a little and like to drink socially, check.  You know, all those kinds of things.  And then Match's little algorithm starts to take your likes and dislikes and match you.  Brilliant.  Well, my very first "match" was this girl who really caught my eye.  Brittney Brake.  She was beautiful, inside and out.  Reading her profile I though, yea...I wanna date this girl.  So I sent her a little message and waited...assuming I'd here back in about 5 minutes.  Ha!  As I waited I started to find some other interesting girls and messaged a few.  I started hearing back from many, except Brittney.  Several days passed and now I have started to set up dates and am having some fun.  But still no Brittney.  Finally, she messaged me and we had our first date on September 7, 2014.  We went to dinner at The Southern here in Nashville and had a great time, talking for what seemed like an hour but was really over three.  The rest is kind of history.  I had another match date set up for drinks after my dinner date with Brittney that night.  Yes, I was going for a two dates in one night kinda evening...  After dinner with Britt, although I still had time to meet the "other" girl, there was no way.  At this point I didn't know what would happen, obviously, with Britt but I knew that something was different.  Fast forward exactly six months and that is the day I got down on one knee and surprised her.  Asking her to marry me on March 7, 2015 was perfect.  It was our first time back to The Southern since that first date and everything went as planned.  All I really cared about was - she said yes.  We are now getting close to that wedding date, which is going to happen on September 12, 2015.  I can't wait to begin my life with my future wife and have a family with her, Emerson and me sharing the joys of this crazy world together.  So yeah, that's what I have  been up to.  It's been busy, crazy, fun, joyful, and that feeling "you know when you know..."  That is a true feeling.  So to her, to Brittney, I thank her for finally answering that match.com message - because she has made me the happiest guy in the world.

Until next time, which I promise won't be another year...

Flying Over Dale Hollow

My family goes to Dale Hollow Lake every year. We've been going for about 25 years and it's my favorite lake. As a pilot, I just got the opportunity to see it from a different perspective and it was absolutely incredible. I landed at "Dale Hollow Airport" which was showing on the old paper maps but didn't even come up on my planes navigation system.  I had to circle a few times to even find out where it was.  When I finally found it, it was a run down air-"park" with an FBO that was falling down and abandoned, a small runway that was just over the bluff and the runway literally had driveways off the runway into peoples homes.  Ha!  I landed safe, back-taxi'd to take off again, waiting for a farmer in a truck to drive out of the way, then wheels up.  It was quite the experience and I don't plan to land there again.  The lake, on the other hand, was beautiful!
